I’d be lying if I said decorating and stylizing a room isn’t one of my favorite things to do. All four years of college (apparently I’m a senior now, ew), I’ve always been so excited about picking a theme and color scheme. This year I wanted my dorm to appear more along the lines of sophisticated and chic. I chose three colors: white, fuschia and gold, and ran with them. I’ve created quite a job for myself keeping my white rug and comforter clean, but it’s definitely worth it.
My comforter was actually such a cheap find that I stumbled upon in Walmart one day! I knew I wanted a white one, and this one was perfect. I love the ruffles, because it’s simple but not plain. I purchased a lot of my decor (like the plate and glass vase) from a local thrift store. You would be surprised at what you can find. I purchased the three pictures hanging over my bed and the gold, polka-dot wall decals from Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby is one of my top three go-to’s when I’m in the mood to decorate or craft, because they always have items for 50%-off and a 40%-off coupon on their website.
My christmas lights are actually about three years old and still going strong, woohoo!! I feel like christmas lights can brighten the mood in almost ANY dorm. I also love lamps to create some nice mood lighting. Many of my favorite lamps I’ve ever purchased have come from Target and once again, Hobby Lobby. My shoe rack is definitely one of my favorite new editions to my room. I’ve recently become shoe obsessed, and wanted to show off my beautiful collection instead of hiding them all away in a closet (and also distract people from my often messy desk, even though right now it’s clean and being occupied by my beautiful new Michael Kors bag, a birthday gift from my mom! I’m so obsessed.)
A few of my statement necklaces are hanging from my “Pretty Things” necklace holder. I actually purchased this at TJ Maxx. Believe it or not, I used to hang all of my necklaces on a clothes hanger.. talk about a disaster… but now they have their own little home. I’m honestly so in love with my room, it hurts. I highly suggest that everyone tries to create a room that feels cozy and provides a positive environment. Even the smallest of accents and pictures around the room can boost your mood and make your day more productive as soon as you wake up in the morning. 🙂
