Secrets Papagayo resort is an all-inclusive, adults-only resort. It was so nice being able to get as much food and have as many drinks as I wanted. It felt like I was back in college, on spring break again (the mems shall live on).
The room and shower were both super nice. How cute is the canopy over the bed?! The cleaning service came around twice a day which was nice, however, I will say the room service was very slow. Sometimes it took up to an hour, and I ended up falling asleep each night before it arrived lol.
This was the gorgeous view from our balcony (this was also the view from the shower). You can’t really tell in the photo, but all the way across is the Pacific Ocean. I wore this maxi dress to dinner the first night. I originally purchased it from Nasty Gal. Unfortunately, it’s no longer available online, but a similar one can be found here.
So each room at the resort is like an individual hut, with a front porch and personal walkway, for ultimate privacy. The resort is literally right in the middle of the jungle. Bug spray is an absolute must to pack. Thankfully the resort supplied some as well. After my stay, I was COVERED in like 12 bug bites. I also realized I’m allergic because the bug bites swelled up. There were also HUGE iguanas everywhere. I’m talking the size of my small dog. If I saw one on a certain path, I literally ran the other way ha.
Costa Rica is so beautiful, luscious and green. Right now, it’s Summer in Costa Rica, so the weather was really hot, but not too humid. Also, I will be writing a separate blog post about the details on my white coverup!
This is the view of the resort, from the water. Some of the fun activities we did included jet-skiing, kayaking, and banana boating. I spent most of my jet-ski riding time screaming at my boyfriend to slow down, or just screaming in general.
While the guys were out fishing one day, us girls had a spa day at the Secrets Spa by Pevonia. It was my first time getting a massage at a spa. It was magical. I left feeling so relaxed and stress-free. The spa had showers, an indoor hot pool and cute little huts with windows that opened so you could hear the ocean as you got a massage. It also had it’s own private outdoor pool that was separate from the resort’s main one, and a secret restaurant that had the best oatmeal and breakfast smoothies.
Overall, relaxing by the pool was definitely my favorite activity on the trip. Can you guess what book I’m reading? And yes, that Strawberry Daiquiri was soooo good.
I miss Costa Rica so much already! If you are looking for luxury in the jungle, Secrets Papagayo is perfect. I’m definitely already looking forward to my next trip. If you guys have any questions about the resort or trip, let me know in the comments section below!
