Joshua Tree 2017

Joshua Tree 2017

My boyfriend and I went on a quick road trip to Joshua Tree two weekends ago. Joshua Tree is a National Park in California, popular for it’s unusual rock formations and twisted trees in the desert landscape. (You’ll see what I mean in pictures below). It’s about a 3-hour drive from both Orange County and Los Angeles. The drive there is full of incredible mountain views and there’s one spot where you just pass hundreds of windmills.

Joshua Tree’s are known by their grotesque appearances. Some grow to be 40 feet tall.

Here’s my little pup posing on a canyon. It was so windy he was literally airborne at one point. Poor little guy.Joshua Tree 2017

This tree was definitely the ‘father’ of Joshua Trees.

Hidden Valley. These rocks were underwater at some point, which is why they have a rounded shape.

Here’s my boyfriend reading the map that I ever so judged him for getting, until we got out to the middle of the desert and I had no cellphone service.

There are also a ton of campsites and hiking areas throughout Joshua Tree.

The gorgeous cactus garden was definitely my favorite spot. From far away, the cacti look super fuzzy, but once you get up close you can see they are the complete opposite.

I hope everyone had an awesome Easter! I spent yesterday hiking to the Hollywood Sign. The city is closing one of the popular entry points to hike to the sign, which will limit access. So sad. But thankfully I was able to do the hike one more time. I’ve only hiked it twice before, which was two summers ago and my first time in California. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week!!
