These past few months I’ve started investing more time, research (and money) into my skincare routine. In this post I’ll be covering my spring beauty faves! I’ve been incorporating products with natural ingredients, while trying to avoid products with parabens and sulfates. I used to believe that if it’s on the shelf and people are buying it, then it must be good for you, right? WRONG. It is so important to research and know what’s in a product before you’re putting it on your skin and also research the type of products that will work for your skin type.
If you’re unfamiliar with parabens and sulfates, here is the quick 411, because they’re in almost every single beauty product that you own. Parabens help prevent bacterial growth and extend the shelf-life of products. But these chemicals can also be detrimental to your health to the extent of even messing with your hormones. As for sulfates, one of their main purposes is to create a lathering effect in products like shampoo. Sulfates have been known to dry out hair and cause skin irritation.
One of my favorite beauty products is Fresh Beauty’s Youth Preserve Face Cream. It is paraben and sulfate free, provides 24-hour hydration, and is recommended for all skin types. I have been using this for a few months now in both the morning and at night. It has definitely helped improve my skin’s dryness and overall appearance!
Fresh Beauty’s Rose Deep Hydration Toner is another one of my faves. It is paraben and sulfate free as well. I recently incorporated toner into my skincare routine and love it. This toner is an Allure Beauty Award Winner and I definitely see why. My pores appear smaller and it removes extra residue that my face wash doesn’t get.
I love Supergoop!’s Unseen Sunscreen. If you haven’t tried this you need to. It’s seriously invisible. A lot of sunscreens are white and don’t blend in well on darker skin-tones. They also can create an ashy look and make you have flashback in photos. Not cute. I love this sunscreen because it’s invisible, weightless and goes on smoothly. It can also be used as a primer. Win-win situation.
Honeyyyy, DEW ME UPPP! This primer by NYX is radiant! Like it literally has gold specks in it and gives my skin a glowy, dewy look. It is also formulated to minimize the appearance of redness and discoloration. This might be my new favorite primer, because flat is out and GLOWING GODDESS SKIN IS IN, HONEYYY!
Urban Decay’s Naked Petite Heat Eyeshadow Palette is a must-have for weekend trips. It’s a mini palette but has all the necessary shades you need to create a simple daytime look or a fiery look for a night-out! I’ll definitely end up buying another one once this one is all used up.
